This point in Earth’s orbit is called the aphelion. The word aphelion comes from the Greek words apo meaning away, off, apart and helios (for the Greek god of the sun). or in other words "away from...apart from...off from the sun/Son. <br /><br />While we celebrate being "independent", and free from tyranny and compulsion.. in reality we are truly "dependent" on God for all things. July 4th is the da...Question for the blog author: <br /><br />July 4th is the day when the earth is furthest from the sun during the year. Do you think there is any significance or symbolism in this? Seeing that it's the day The Declaration of Independence was signed and thus when America celebrates it's independence. <br /><br />The two things would seem to have some connection, but I haven't been able to come up with much.
