I would rather that this blog not become a political platform, but I feel I need to express my opinions and my concern for where our country is headed. I have watched some of the Republican National Convention happening this week in Tampa. I found it symbolic that Hurricane Isaac caused the first day of the convention to be cancelled. Seems as if Nature's God was not in complete support. With the exception of a very few that I know, everyone is very excited about Mitt Romney's chances of conquering the "evil one." Because Mitt is Mormon, most believe that he is "called" and "chosen" to turn the country around. While maybe he was "called", Personally, I think the wrong man has been chosen. and why not?
Last night at the RNC, a special tribute was given to the man I would chose to be our new President, Ron Paul. Planners of the Republican National Convention gave Ron Paul an opportunity to speak at this week RNC event, but only under the conditions that he fully endorse Mitt Romney, and that he only deliver remarks vetted by the Romney campaign. Unsurprisingly, the congressman who has for decades been noted for his uncompromising stance on issues, including those on which he disagrees with the majority of his party, refused the conditions. As far as I know, Ron Paul was the last man standing in the Presidential Primary Race. This video was played last night at the convention. Since Mitt Romney has recieved the nomination, the Republican Party no longer feels that Ron Paul is a threat, and felt it was safe to play.
Here was the video that was played:
"It’s the American story…
charting your own path, forging new ways forward.
Not because it is the easy way, but because it is the right way.
And for those with dedication, character, faith and conviction.
Sometimes that lonely path paves the way forward for millions."
Not because it is the easy way, but because it is the right way.
And for those with dedication, character, faith and conviction.
Sometimes that lonely path paves the way forward for millions."
I had a chance to see Ron Paul and hear him speak personally when he came to Utah. He is a modern day George Washington. I would even go so far and say that if Captian Moroni were alive and well today.. this would be who he would "chose" as well to vote for. It is sad that so many are blinded by the craftiness of men, (especially when the craftiness is mingled with scripture and/or they share your same faith).
Sidenote:
I friend forward me a post from someone who posted this on facebook:
"I just put my arm around Ron Paul and told him that the way he understands agency and liberty, he understands Mormonism better than Mitt Romney. He answered, 'I used to talk to Ezra Taft Benson a lot. We were friends. I know quite a bit about Mormonism."
I think there are enough freedom loving people in America that Ron Paul actually could have won the nomination had he not of been "stoned to death" in the media. The "Powers That Be" knew that they could not control him, or make him their puppet.. Unfortunately, as we have see in history that we mock and cast out those who speak truth. So instead of having a President like Ron Paul, we will continue to have kings who will rule and reign.
...................
For more information of the corruption that is happening within the Republican Party at the RNC that you probably won't see on the mainstream media. We are entering a period of time where a dissenting voice will not be heard. This is not just happening in politics either.
The result of the "vote" was written on the teleprompter BEFORE the vote was even taken.
Ron Paul is the only person for whom I would vote and when November rolls around, I will write his name in, regardless of whether the vote "counts" or not.
ReplyDeleteI cannot, in good conscience, vote for someone like Romney who has repeatedly changed sides depending on which direction the wind has blown.
Ron Paul has always been a consistent defender of the Constitution, has advocated a truly humble foreign policy, has argued against increased debt, and has always defended freedom over tyranny.
Unfortunately, it appears that many American's do not really care about freedom anymore and want to be lead by a king (or dictator). I find this situation tragic.
Additionally, the corruption that has been displayed in the GOP - both before and during the convention, has been absolutely abhorrent and completely in opposition to a process of openly and freely choosing a nominee.
Thanks again for continuing to update this blog - I have enjoyed reading it.
The Republicans and Democrats are both controlled by the powers that be. They definitely are the "king men." I wrote Ron Pauls name in last year and will do the came this year.
ReplyDeleteFor those that think that Romney is chosen the day and make mormonism more popular among the people think about this scripture:
1 Nephi 22:23
23 For the time speedily shall come that all churches which are built up to get gain, and all those who are built up to get power over the flesh, and those who are built up to become popular in the eyes of the world, and those who seek the lusts of the flesh and the things of the world, and to do all manner of iniquity; yea, in fine, all those who belong to the kingdom of the devil are they who need fear, and tremble, and quake; they are those who must be brought low in the dust; they are those who must be consumed as stubble; and this is according to the words of the prophet.
Couldn't agree with you more!!!
ReplyDeleteKaren
I watched the videos and I felt a great swelling love for those who had the courage to cast their votes for Ron Paul.
ReplyDeleteI also have a sinking feeling of despair. I fear we (the country and the Mormons) will soon get what we deserve. May God help us, we certainily don't deserve it.
It is interesting to note that after Ann Romney spoke at the convention the drudge report headlined her photo and other carefully selected photos on his page that day and they all had one thing in common the color red. When I first saw her picture my immediate thought was the Romney's are either being used by the elite or they have chosen to go along (I really don't know). But if you understand how the illuminate use symbols as in "the lady in red" it is troubling none the less. Google lady in red Ann Romney and see how some of the media chose "the lady in red" to describe the night's speech.
ReplyDeleteThank you, unknown. Your blog has been a comfort and a support to me (and to my husband) in our aloneness as Mormon 'libertarians'--
ReplyDeletewe were completely alone for decades, and within the past 5 years or so more and more LDS have stood up with us, but not in our ward/stake. It has become difficult to be at church. Even though we don't expose our beliefs (not supposed to at church), they become known very quickly when we don't join in the cheer lead for MR (Romney)--
my husband got followed around the church by a 'brother' in our ward who wouldn't leave him alone, who continued to say, "when there is a member of the church running for office, is there any other choice?"--
My husband told him twice that it wasn't appropriate to talk about it in the church--
we are weary; we are not young; we began our political activism 35 years ago--
and I worked for the RP campaign this year; we also donated money--
I am feeling . . . sorrow. Real sorrow. Where do *we* go now? Where do LDS who are 'awake' go now?
I know that Connor (Boyak) and many others feel this way, but where do we LDS go?
Until November 6 church will be a difficult place, and after that it will be hard if Obama becomes POTUS, because *we* (those who didn't want MR) will be blamed for his re-election; it is a lose/lose.
I'll look up those things, but I'm a regular on DP--:), so I have access to everything--
Thank you; God bless my fellow Mormons who care about liberty!!! God bless you--
*grieving for my nation thousands of miles from the Intermountain west*
this is the DPer again--
ReplyDeletehave any of the rest of *you* seen that strange picture where Romney's logo was turned upside down? It's a backwards "666"--
Maybe that's taking it too far, but I'm not sure anymore--
I think that the PTB (powers that be) are laughing at us, and there is nobody they would rather see fall fast and far than the LDS--
Is MR being used, or is he a user? I don't know, but I'm not sure it matters at this point; I learned long ago that just because someone has an "LDS" label on themselves . . . they aren't my fellow saints--
I would never be able to call him 'brother' or his wife 'sister'--
ReplyDeleteI have seen some of the highlights of the RNC on the news, far as I can tell it is just a bunch people telling us how great they are and that they are the only ones that will solve our problems. Just words, just speeches, all of which is completely worthless.
Anyway, when talking about liberty I like think of 2 Nephi 1:7
Wherefore, this land is consecrated unto him whom he shall bring. And if it so be that they shall serve him according to the commandments which he hath given, it shall be a land of liberty unto them; wherefore, they shall never be brought down into captivity; if so, it shall be because of iniquity; for if iniquity shall abound cursed shall be the land for their sakes, but unto the righteous it shall be blessed forever.
Of course this is just crazy talk and not practical in our day and age, at least that is what I am told even by LDS members who claim to have a testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. The prefer route to liberty in our modern world is unrighteous dominion and other immoral practices.
Looking at Romney's past / current positions and his political career he is a man that has used and has promised to use again unrighteous dominion to accomplish things. The other Republicans are just as unrighteous.
On the Ron Paul angle of this post, I grew up a district away from Ron Paul's district. Ron Paul kept on getting re-elected in his district because he made sure he put in some very favorable earmarks for his district in bills that he knew would pass even if he was not going to vote for the bill. There are websites that track earmarks and who put them in bills and Ron Paul over the years made sure he had plenty of opportunities to bring home the bacon. I have seen youtubes of him explaining what ear marks are and why he uses them, I was disappointed. Without ear marks Ron Paul's political career would have been a short one. There were other problems I had with Ron Paul after diving deep into his record. He was not always the defender of the Constitution which he took an oath to do, I have found things in his record I am very disappointed with, but sure compared to others he looks likes a Constitutional Rock Star. I have never voted for Ron Paul for anything and my conscience would not be clear if I did.
Anon @ 4:30
ReplyDeleteYou are right about Ron Paul not always keeping his oath of office defending the constitution. His voting record on CISPA and NDAA shows that he did not even bother too show up to vote against these bills. These bills grossly violate the constitution.
I know the author of this website does not want to get too much into politics...it is interesting to me that the same people in my ward who trip all over themselves to testify that they "know the church is true and TSM is a prophet of God" also foam at the mouth in praise of Mitt Romney. The statement by the Lord in D&C 76 about people being deceived by the craftiness of men comes to mind often these days.
ReplyDeleteJR
We are on the path for the fulfilling of the Old Testament prophets. The king of Assyria will invade, conquer and occupy. Not even Ron Paul can stop that.
ReplyDeleteThe Church will be brought to the forefront to gather in the honest truth-seeking souls and then the field will be burned. We must back up and look at the big picture. Not today's news or November's news. We must be a little more far-sighted than that. We need to spend our energies on preparing. There's a reason for all those war chapters in the BOM - read them!
Frankly, I'm disappointed in the politics being brought up on the blog as it will accomplish exactly nothing of a meaningful nature.
4:30 p.m. and 5:44 p.m.--
ReplyDeletethe owner of this blog obviously admires Ron Paul (as do I)--
Ron Paul isn't a god, but there are many websites where you can criticize Ron Paul and not very many (LDS) websites where you can talk about the good he has done. Many of *us* who supported him knew that he wasn't there for the NDAA vote; he knew that his vote was not going to count. Many of *us* also know about the earmarks--
I've heard him explain that, too--and it satisfied me.
No man is perfect; I'm surprised that 4:30 p.m. has ever voted for anyone--
I'll stop now; I think the person who owns this blog didn't want contention--
You don't have to support Ron Paul; you can find other places to say negative things about him--
7:12 a.m.: nobody expected Ron Paul to stop anything; I didn't expect him to be nominated--
ReplyDeleteI think that if the owner of the blog wanted to talk about this that is his business--
Yes, ALL men are fallible, including Ron Paul. And believe it or not, so is Mitt Romney, and even Thomas S Monson.
ReplyDeleteHowever out of the three, one seems to have a little more grasp on what is really happening in and to our country and is actually talking about it.
Like I said, I don't want this to be a political platform, but I don't mind people sharing there opinion.. just as long as we refrain from contention...
Bottomline: I think it is interesting how this election cycle is showing how similiar we are to the "chosen people" in Israel who also looked for a political "Messiah" to come "save" us from the mess they were in.. while very few look to the Christ and seek His face and His saving power.
I generally don't talk politics any longer; and I did not watch the Republican Convention. We are clearly headed in the wrong direction and neither party can change our "soul" as a country; our "spirit" as a people is not what it once was.
ReplyDelete"For as their laws and their governments were established by the voice of the people, and they who chose evil were more numerous than they who chose good, therefore they were ripening for destruction, for the laws had become corrupted.
Yea, and this was not all; they were a stiffnecked people, insomuch that they could not be governed by the law nor justice, save it were to their destruction." (Helaman 5:2-3.)
Instead, I try to spend my time preparing and reading the scriptures. For me, all the signs are there. The few who would speak up for our freedom are quickly attacked and removed from the lime light. This is not the media's fault, nor is it the government's fault; nay, it is the people's fault. We reap what we sow and we have become a wicked, arrogant, and covetous people. The signs are all there. It does not take a genius to understand the writing on the wall or all the explicit warnings in the Book of Mormon.
May God have mercy on us! We will need it.
Dimiwill
In Ron Paul, God gave this nation its one chance to avoid the coming tribulations. Instead, most Mormons clamored for "one of their own" whose every public utterance stands in defiance of his own religion, and whose positions differ little from the man he hopes to replace.
ReplyDeleteGod will not save us now.
If every voting age Mormon in the country voted for Ron Paul, he still could not win. The "one chance to avoid the coming tribulations" came and went with the passing of Ezra Taft Benson. Mothers are working outside the home. Parents are limiting their children. Those two things sealed our fate. It's now time to prepare. (And obviously change your ways if those two things apply to you.)
DeleteDo we have to be so completely misled and unable to see? Does the spiritual, even the sacred work of our Savior always have to be secularized ... and used by "conspiring men"? It seems sometimes that the Lord's words get misunderstood or twisted.
ReplyDeleteMaxwell gave a talk "out of obscurity" (Oct 1984) ... "The Lord described how He will bring His latter-day work “forth out of obscurity and out of darkness.”
From the NY Times 9/2/2012

Mormon Says Romneys Are Leading Church Into Mainstream
By JEREMY W. PETERS
"BOSTON – With Mitt Romney and his wife, Ann, looking on, a prominent member of the Mormon church, J.W. Marriott Jr., told his congregation on Sunday that the Romneys were helping to lead the church “out of obscurity” and into the mainstream."
Is this really what the Lord meant? Was this his intention? And when has Christ, His teachings, His ways ... ever been considered "mainstream"? I just don't know if "mainstream" is where I want to be.
Think of the millions and possibly billions of dollars Romney will save the Church in advertising. The "I am a Mormon" campaigns, the whole shebang evaporates to oblivion compared to what Romney's run is doing. No one will join the Church if they haven't even heard of it. I wonder when the last time Anon6:48 had a gospel conversation with a non-member? Is missionary work even on your radar or are you just focused on Marriott showing porn in his hotels? What good have you done lately? (In real life, that is.)
