When President Nelson announced that the Salt Lake Temple will close in 2019, he said the Temple is expected to reopen in 2024 with a public open house. See highlighted screenshot and link:

It was reported today that the renovations will not be completed until 2026. From the article:
The current estimated completion date is now in 2026, according to a Thursday news release from the church.
When the construction began, church leaders said it was estimated to be completed in 2025. It includes renovations to the temple — including a seismic upgrade — and changes to the grounds and other buildings. Thursday's statement said church leadership, project consultants and the general contractor support the new estimate.
At a minimum the Salt Lake Temple will have been closed for Six Years.
The news article is actually wrong to report that the church leaders said it would be completed in 2025 when the above news room article quotes President Nelson that it would be done in 2024.Here is the link the new article.

I love that you keep a record of what you see. Nelson has a habit of making big statements that go unfulfilled. The church still hasn't purchased the land for the announced Temples in Russia and China that he promised years ago. I'm not holding my breath on either of those. My husband and my calling is in emergency prep in our ward. The head people (in our ward) who are over all the emergency prep callings said that they believe President Nelson was inspired to re-do the SLC Temple and that we have until the SLC Temple is completed before the 'big earthquake' hits. I wonder what they make of all the delays. For sure it's got to be our awesomeness.
You mean the 'prophet' might 'lie' to us?!! [gasp] ...as in, perhaps, the safety and efficacy of [gulp] the--- the China-virus shots?!!
Luke 14:28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost (time and money?) whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
Might be interesting to look into connections between the contractor(s) and the high and mighty.
Apparently, any "prophecy" from RMN can be a bit off. No worries, folks.
Read this about the lack of progress of temples in Vienna and Budapest.
" How long do church leaders honestly expect that boost (of a temple announcement) to last when it is followed up by nothing more than crickets serenading a lonely tumbleweed rolling through a ghost town under a full moon? And the Vienna temple’s announcement is still fresh compared to the Budapest temple—it will be celebrating its fourth anniversary of no apparent progress next week."
