I had an interesting experience yesterday. I woke up early to watch the sunrise in preparation for seeing the moonrise that evening—and then watching it eclipse in Earth’s shadow. The sun rose perfectly between the two peaks of Mount Olympus. On the left, the peaks are jagged and square-like; on the right, the peak is more rounded. It felt symbolic of the male and female aspects of the same mountain.
I had planned to head up into the mountains that evening with a group to observe the rising moon in the east. Hours before we were set to leave, a storm moved in from the west. The forecast looked unpromising, and I began to doubt we’d see the eclipse at all. We called off the hike—there was no point trekking up in the dark only to stare at clouds.
But the storm passed quickly, leaving a welcome window of clear skies. The approaching clouds trailing behind it stayed held at bay. I headed up to Guardsman Pass alone to witness the lunar eclipse. I feel the heavens wanted this sign to be seen.
Friends across the country—from the East Coast, the Midwest (Cincinnati), and the West Coast in California—sent me their photos and let me know they saw it too.
Below are a few of the photos I took yesterday, beginning with the sunrise, the Doppler radar of the storm, the approaching clouds, and the lunar eclipse itself. I’m grateful I was able to witness it.

This blog has turned away from its original religious theme. It's just hiking photos now. Disappointing.

The scriptures talk about eclipses of the sun and moon (sun darkened, moon turned to blood), but since those happen fairly regularly, I often wonder how we know which are significant.
I do think the two total eclipses of the sun that made an X over the USA (and touched Mexico and Canada) were telling us that God was crossing us off the map (the end of the once-great nation as far as a world power, etc. goes). And you did write a post about several blood moons that happened on certain holy days. I think those were definitely signs of the times.
But I don't know if the current eclipses are (and there was a recent solar eclipse seen in Spain, and partially seen in other parts of Europe).
P.S. I don't find it disappointing that you don't always have a religious theme to your posts. You often have interesting insights, and when you post photos, they are always gorgeous!

If you understand symbolism and how God witnesses to the world in a way that man cannot manipulate, you'd recognize that it is still carries the religious theme (or gospel theme, I would prefer to say). Disappointing that it is difficult for people to see what is so clear, actually.
I cannot understand people coming here, reading the post and then complaining that the content isn't to their liking?? How goofy is that.
