TWO MAJOR (SHOCKING) ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE LDS CHURCH -

ANNOUNCEMENT 01:
THE CHURCH WILL ONLY FLY THE RECOGNIZED FLAGS OF THE UN (United Nations) :

"Beginning Saturday, January 6, 2024, several plaza areas on Temple Square will begin reopening, including the plaza by the Church Office Building,. On the east side of Temple Square, the plaza areas will fully reopen for public access. On the plaza near the Church Office Building, there are 92 flag poles. The flags, which will be raised at a later date, will be one of several art installations symbolizing the global nature of the Church and its commitment to be a friend to all."

"Throughout the year, the Church will fly all of the flags of officially-recognized United Nations countries. The flag oval begins at the plaza’s northwest corner with the flag of the United States. From there, 91 additional flags will rotate every three months. The flags will be placed in alphabetical order, according to the English name of the country, and will always be illuminated."

Here is a photo of the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Just like the newly renovated Temple Square, the  plaza of the UN building has an oval shaped plaza with flag poles that also only fly  the recognized UN countries flags.

I did a google search for all the different flags around the world. I found that there are 254 country flags in total. Here is the website: https://flagpedia.net/index

I highlighted in yellow all of the flags that the LDS Church will NOT fly on the Church Office Building Plaza because they are NOT recognized by the United Nations.
